Published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (monthly). The federal exclusion list every healthcare employer is expected to check. Includes exclusion type and reinstatement records. Healthcare organizations screen staff and vendors against it to protect their program participation and billing eligibility. This page shows aggregate statistics only; it never lists or searches individual records.

About this list
The LEIE covers both individuals and business entities. In the June 2026 file the full database held 83,665 records: 80,233 individuals and 3,432 businesses. The full file contains only exclusions currently in effect. When OIG reinstates a party, that record is removed from the next monthly full file. The record layout includes an exclusion type, written as a statute citation code such as 1128a1, and an exclusion date.
For individuals the record layout publishes last, first, and middle names; businesses appear under a business name field. Records also carry a general category and specialty, UPIN, NPI, date of birth, address fields, and waiver date and state fields. Most individual records include a date of birth: in the June 2026 file, 861 individuals had none. NPI coverage is thinner, with about 90 percent of records listing no NPI. A record that carries a DOB or an NPI can be checked against more than a name. Where those fields are blank, a candidate match rests on name comparison and needs more verification from the reviewer.
OIG publishes the list as a plain CSV file, with a full refresh each month, typically near the tenth. Reinstatements show up in two places: the reinstated party leaves the next full file, and appears with a reinstatement date in a monthly reinstatement supplement. A companion monthly supplement lists that month's new exclusions. OIG also posts a monthly PDF of corrections to existing profiles.
