About this list

The MassHealth workbook has two sheets. The first lists providers currently suspended or excluded from MassHealth. The second lists providers removed from the list, with a column for the date of reinstatement into MassHealth and a notes column. Individuals and organizations share a single name column with no flag marking which is which.

Rows carry the provider name, a provider type, an NPI where the state recorded one, a reason, and an effective date. NPI values vary in practice: some rows hold a number, some read NONE, and some are blank. The list publishes no dates of birth. A candidate match against this list is a name match first, and it needs more corroborating review than a match from a source that publishes birthdates, especially for common names.

MassHealth posts the list on mass.gov as an Excel spreadsheet, releasing a new dated file each month, typically in the second week and covering the prior month. Reinstatements appear on the removed sheet described above with their reinstatement dates. The workbook does not state whether that sheet is a complete history. It appears to hold recent removals.
